Drumm Farm Organic Garden and Farm Stand
From the first day the Andrew Drumm Institute opened its doors in 1929 through the next 50 years, the boys who lived on campus participated in a vo-agricultural program. They grew and harvested crops, milked cows, and collected eggs. In return they learned valuable job skills and responsibility and developed a strong work ethic. Today, the face of Drumm Farm has changed, but a part of Andrew Drumm’s original vision lives on in the Drumm Farm Organic Garden and Farm Stand.
Operated by Campus/Plant Manager Bruce Branstetter and wife Maureen, the campus garden covers three acres and grows an extensive variety of certified organic vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers. Many of the children at Drumm are now working in the garden and helping with sales on the weekend. They are learning some new and useful skills in much the same way children have done at Drumm Farm for the past 80 years.
